The source archives GitHub automatically generates for tags are not guaranteed to be stable over time. They are thus unsuitable for safe consumption in downstream projects as their hashes may change and break builds.
Would it be possible to create proper GitHub releases for new versions and, crucially, explicitly upload a release archive with the sources (e.g. generated via git archive)?
