thetaS below or above threshold limit: mHM calibration

Dear mHM community,
I am calibrating mHM for my domain. I get good performance statistics but I when I check the output log of my model I see several warnings that thetaS below threshold limit 1e-2, reset. I re-initiailized the model again and the warning now says thetaS above 1, reset. I am guessing that this means that some parameters are pushing the soil water content past its limits. What does the resetting mean? Do I have to reset the soil-related parameters in the parameter evolution file e.g. dds_results.out ? I also thought about applying the last parameter values before the warning and deactivating further calibration of the soil parameters. Is there a better solution for this issue?

Hi @klekarkar

I think this is related to your routing method as I faced before, if you used the Muskingum approach you can change to other methods

I found out it was related to some parameter limits of mHM

This warning is made for some L1 cells (hydrology resolution) when the calibration pushes the soil moisture state to unrealistic bounds for that given soil properties. I understand that there might be an updated parameter range to avoid this from happening which might not have been implemented in some model versions.
