When setting hidden: true on a sensor with a single DP, I still see the sensor in Home Assistant - is this expected?

I want to hide the sensor completely and but it doesn't seem to work as expected.
Does anyone know if it's possible?

eg

secondary_entities:
  - entity: switch
    name: "In Fahrenheit?"
    icon: "mdi:thermometer"
    category: config
    dps:
      - id: 102
        type: boolean
        name: switch
        # for now marking as read-only and hidden as it seems to create some issues or I don't know how to set it up correctly

I would like to have that sensor and DP but to hide the sensor in Home Assistant by default.
Is that possible?

Oh I'm being stupid. It seems this setting is specifically to hide elements in the drop-down of available options (corresponding to that DP) rather than the entire sensor.
For binary / switch sensors with a single DP, is there any mechanism to hide the entire sensor by default? Thanks.

If you don't want an entity, make the value an attribute of another entity.

At the dp level, hidden only works to keep things out of the extra attribute list. If the dp is part of the standard API for an entity it cannot be hidden. And when used for extra attributes, it should be because the attribute is needed for some conditional logic but would be redundant to include as an attribute (usually because it is duplicated elsewhere, or the way it is used in the conditional logic makes the information available indirectly).

Never mind, this can be accomplished by either making this a sensor rather than a switch (so cannot be controlled) or making it an attribute to the primary entity and hiding it.
