Causes Void Monster's distortion effect to not work

I was working on a pack and noticed that Void Monster's https://reikakalseki.github.io/minecraft/mods/voidmonster.html cool distortion effect did not appear. after some trial and error i figured out it was this mods crash handler that was causing it, How can i restore the distortion effect without disabling the crash handler?

note: i had the same issue with FalsePattern's crashguard
