Clip brushes

EN: i cant understand how to create clip brushes, looks like they're skipped by some part of code. any clue?

RU: не могу понять как импортировать клип-браши, будто что-то игнорирует их. есть идеи?

Clip is a material that is compiled in a different way by VBSP(the map geometry compiler)

When we open tools/toolsclip.vmt it can be seen that it has the parameter "%compileclip" 1
A similiar thing that happens with nodraw which has a similiar parameter called "%compilenodraw" at 1, these brushes are handled differently compared to others and that's why nodraws are visible at v18 maps while they are not in retail, because Unity Source Tools were designed to load v19 and above but v18 has a different way of handling nodraws, hope that clears it up...

Valve says...

I created test map with usual texture (ads/ad01.vmt), clip and playerclip texture

Unity says there's no brushes (faces) with clip texture, only "ads/ad01" and "tools/toolsskybox" (skybox; skipped by me)

edit: i have only these Texinfo indexes 0,1,2,5, not -1. idk what they mean.

That's very interesting, clip textures like nodraw load on v18 maps @antimYT

Perhaps you could compare a v19-v20 map (retail) and v18 map (hl2 leak) and see what differences are there

I think clip data can be in LUMP_PHYSCOLLIDE

Finally i realized where are clip brushes.

Brush lump (not parsed in code; LUMP_BRUSHES).
Brush with CONTENTS_PLAYERCLIP (playerclip ofc) or CONTENTS_PLAYERCLIP + CONTENTS_MONSTERCLIP (clip)
->
Brushside (not parsed in code; LUMP_BRUSHSIDES)
->
Plane (not parsed in code, but you can find commented code; LUMP_PLANES)

And there i stucked, if someone can spawn planes, commit push pls.

Like i have mentioned before, something in the uSrc makes noclip brushes load in v18 maps (beta) so see if you can find any distinguish them

Tool textures exist in

TexData
Vertexes
TexInfos
Plane

But not in models lump which means they never get loaded in retail Half-Life 2 and above because SourceBSPLoader creates based on models lump.
