Cannot overwrite default Resource "Update" route

I'm attempting to overwrite the default 'update' route on a Resource in order to use the inline Pencil icon on the list of Resources to route me to a custom Tool however, I am still routed to the Resource's default "update" page instead. When refreshing the update page, I am then (correctly) redirected. I can't seem to figure out why this redirection is not occurring first.

PHP Version: 7.4
"laravel/nova": "3.32"

Inside "NovaServiceProvider" I have tried the following both the routes() and boot() methods, both before and after the default calls in both of those methods. I have also tried this with the 'nova' middleware and have cleared my route list each time:
