Crashes on starting a new game. Looks like the sound is from ISC and is getting called in by Alternate Start.

Can confirm, but it also CTD's on a new game with Alternate Starts WITHOUT Immersive Sounds Compendium. People on the release page for Skyrim SE are stating that the mod broke for them when the Creator's Club patch came out on October 10th, 2017.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1897/?tab=posts&BH=2

The mod has only received a VR fix that was updated past that date. The normal x64 plugin for SE (v2.3) was last updated on August 1st, 2017. It needs to be updated from the looks of it.

@kosumosu Would you mind taking a look at this? Lots of people are getting a CTD with all versions of the mod with normal Skyrim Special Edition (non-VR).

Ok, I'll take a look as soon as I have some free time.

No worries. We've waited this long. :) I appreciate the quick response.

And couple of questions right away:

  • do you mean "Creation Club" DLC, not "Creators' Club"?
  • does it CTD for everyone using CC with Alternate Start or just for some people?
  • does it CTD only in this combination (CC + AS)

Sorry for late response.

  1. Yes I meant Creation Club. Thank you.
  2. It seems to be for some people. Other just have bad audio distortion with most of the sound effects from Immersive Sounds Compendium. Also, the overall audio is reported to get massively distorted after an hour or more of play. I have yet to test this myself as the mod was not loading for me.
  3. It doesn't seem to be regular. I tried re-adding the .dll into my system and it's no longer having CTD's. Unfortunately I can't seem to figure out what is causing the conflict, because my mod list has changed a fair amount. Nothing I can think of that would conflict with something like a DLL, though. My Mod Organizer 2 versions have also changed (stable update a few days ago), so perhaps there was something there as well.

I will keep you posted with anything I experience since it's now loading for me and I use Immersive Sounds Compendium.

I had Immersive Sounds Compendium and Alternate Start, but nothing from Creation Club when it was failing for me.

I started getting the crash again, so I was able to troubleshoot some more. I should note that each time it crashes, it happens as the new game loads, not on boot.

Alternate Starts, two Alternate Starts addons, Bashed Patch integrating an Alternate Starts addon: crashes
Alternate Starts, two Alternate Starts addons, no Bashed Patch: crashes
Alternate Starts, no addons, Bashed Patch: crashes
Alternate Starts, no addons, no Bashed Patch: crashes
No Alternate Starts, no addons, Bashed Patch: loads successfully
No Alternate Starts, no addons, no Bashed Patch: loads successfully

It seems the culprit has to be Alternate Starts. I should mention that this is only on a new game with Alternate Starts installed. The game loads a save with True 3D sound DLL loaded if that save is loaded after you have exited the Alternate Starts cell.

I wonder if it has to do with the "sound\fx\liveanotherlife\arth_lal_maragreeting.xwm" file in the main BSA. I would expect that file would load once the cell loads. That's the only thing I can see sound related that may be a concern. I would expect data in the ESP and most stuff non-sound related can't really conflict with a DLL-only injection mod like this. It has to be something sound related, I would think.

Pretty sure the sound you get when the game has just finished loading, not the Mara sound, is the culprit.

@mtreis86 I'm not sure what you mean when that's part of base Skyrim. That's the default Interior Dungeon Fort Acoustics. (IntDungeonFortAcousticSpace [ASPC:0004075D]) It's also a default music from Skyrim. (MUSDungeonFort [MUSC:0005615B])

Wait that's weird. The Alternate Starts esp sound descriptor for that file I mention references that wxm file as a wav:
Sounds -> Sound Files -> ANAM - File Name -> "data\sound\fx\LiveAnotherLife\ARTH_LAL_MaraGreeting.wav". Shouldn't it be referencing the xwm?

EDIT: Changing the link in the esp doesn't fix anything. I also tried extracting the BSA's as loose files instead of using the BSA's in the installation. Still crashing.

Its also crashing for me; and I have an AS - LAL installed.

I played all the way through Skyrim VR switching back and forth between latest version and older version from Nexus.

The older 1.0 version was much more stable and the sound effects worked much better.
