When using the latest releases of DSOAL (r557, r556), R6 Vegas 2 throws up a dialog box after the Ubisoft logo, saying that the sound driver is in use by another program. Choosing cancel or continue crashes the game with a General Protection fault. The previous stable version of DSOAL works fine.

Have you tried the recent builds using the rewrite branch?

If so, you might wanna try the older builds using the master branch

I suspect this is a regression, because IDrinkLava reported it "has some missing sound effects w/ DSOAL" which implies it didn't just crash, so one of these should probably work, unless the issue is elsewhere:

I tried the latest stable release (released nov 16.), the game runs now, so it was fixed.

Huh, then if it's broken in the latest nightly builds, you could track down the first build where it stopped working so kcat has a better idea how to fix it so it doesn't stay broken 👀👌
It's gotta be one between r466 (latest stable) and r556/r557 (latest nightly), so you can start in the middle with r500 and try newer/older builds depending on whether it worked and so on. https://github.com/ThreeDeeJay/dsoal/releases?page=4
