The cache location of Mountain Duck has the paths and filenames obfuscated and should never be accessed directly. Instead you can keep the disk mounted when offline. When connected with Smart Synchronization connect mode all changes will be synced when again online. Files can be edited when offline as long as their status is Up to Date or In Sync. The only limitation is that locking or unlocking a vault requires network connectivity as files are cached either from the locked or unlocked vault. |

There is a blog post describing using MD to replace the official dropbox client, and this is what pushed me into using MD.
https://blog.cyberduck.io/2023/03/07/alternative-to-the-official-dropbox-client/
My dropbox has several Cryptomator vaults, along with unencrypted data.
Process: I have enabled the connection to dropbox, and enabled cache to a local folder, enabling all the settings I could see in the screenshot in the article. All folders are set to "Keep offline".
Result:
Viewing dropbox online via the mounted drive via MD works as it should.
I assumed I could edit files in the local cache folder, when offline, and have these synced when the internet is restored. This is what the dropbox client does.
However when I open the the cache fiolder in file explorer, it contains a "d" folder, a "m" folder and a "masterkey.cryptomator" file. So it appears that all the data from dropbox is stored locally in some kind of cryptomator vault. Although the "vault.cryptomator" file is missing.
Question:
Is there any way that I can open the local cached copies of my dropbox cryptomator vaults when offline, or is this not possible?
Can anyone explain what is actual;y happening here, if this is intended behaviour, or how I can get this to work as desired?
