We received a file from a collaborator in a zip format with a password. When I tried various approaches to unzipping it, I received the error "skipping: [filename] need PK compat. v5.1 (can do v2.1 [or whatever, less than 5.1])
I was able to unzip the file with the following approach

p7zip_16.02_src_all.tar.bz2
cd ~/downloads/p7zip_16.02
make
make install
~/downloads/p7zip_16.02/bin/7za
