Why would I switch from GAM7

I saw this article on ArsTechnica and I was interested, but I noted it made no mention of GAM.

I'm curious as to why switch from GAM7? It's been around for over ten years, well supported and built into all of my workflows and daily command line use. Also I am highly skeptical about allowing something like OpenClaw into my Workspaces.

GAM is for a different use case.

gws is for…

• Developers who want to script against any Google Workspace API
• AI agents that need structured JSON output and tool-calling integration
• Individual users with a personal @gmail.com account
• Quick ad-hoc API exploration (gws schema drive.files.list)

GAM is for…

• IT administrators managing a Google Workspace domain
• Bulk operations — provisioning hundreds of users, managing ChromeOS devices, setting org-wide policies
• Environments where domain-wide delegation via service accounts is standard
• Organizations that need audit logs, compliance reporting, and admin directory management
