Please could you explain to me the difference between occurrences and individual counts for GBIF datasets
I have downloaded data on the Florida manatee in a CSV format. For each row there are latitude and longitude coordinates which I understood to represent the presence of one manatee. There is also a column which shows individual counts. These display numbers between 0 and 1500. Some years have no individual counts at all, including the most recent years which I am interested in (2020 to 2024). Please could you clarify what the individual counts mean?
