Youtube playback and download issues

What happened?

Lots of commenting on the same issue across other issues so I will close others and pin this one.

Summary:

• Basic playback appears solved for most users in most situations now.
• Downloading playlists has an issue with the new implementation (issue Videos Not Downloading when downloading from playlist #1849 )
• Issue with switching networks during playback, which may cause your video playback to stop. (issue Youtube playback stops when switching network/wifi #1854 )
• Subtitles not working on desktop (Issue Subtitles not working Grayjay.Desktop#329)
• FCast not working on Desktop (Issue cast to device dont work on version 4 Grayjay.Desktop#328)
• FCast does not work with UMP streams (Issue FCast does not work with UMP streams #1857)
• Youtube skipping back freezes video (Issue Youtube skipping back freezes video #1856)
• Youtube videos play without sound (Issue After last update Youtube videos play but no sound #1860)
• Youtube stopped showing all available resolutions (Issue Youtube stopped showing all available resolutions Grayjay.Desktop#338)
• Youtube playback stopped (2025-01-31): Temporarily resolved using v229 (Issue New / old issue comes back. YT plugin, 12:55 message.. #1893 and Desktop app not playing any YouTube videos any more, again (still worked a couple of minutes before). Grayjay.Desktop#366)

We are working to fix these issues and currently we don't need any additional info.

Also to repeat, we never disabled iOS source support. Its still prioritized, but they are slowly rolling out that they won't work, and thus Grayjay won't use them if they don't work. Any alignment with the updates is likely because our update was aligned with the wider rollout of this problem (just in time).

Released a new Youtube verison (v227) in which we fixed mp4 playback which includes videos playing without sound, 360p being only available resolution and general playback issue.

If you encounter issues try disabling Use Login for video details.

Seems Youtube rolled out something that broke UMP again. We are investigating it.
