Load a new package without restarting nvim?

(Sorry if this has already been addressed, but I can't find it in the docs or discussions)

Right now, to add a new package, I add the appropriate plugin spec, then restart nvim and see the Lazy dialog load the new plugin. All good.

But I'd love to be able to get it loaded without restarting. I've tried re-sourcing my init file, but Lazy thows a warning saying I can't re-source.

Is this possible?

Once the package is installed you can load it with :Lazy reload *package name*

In case you haven't discovered yet, you can load a plugin at runtime if you use the directory method of setting up plugins. i.e. require'lazy'.setup("plugins", opts), and then put your plugins in ~/.config/nvim/lua/plugins/

Sorry for reopening this conversation. Was about to open a new discussion when I searched and found this so let me just do it here.

I'm relatively new to Neovim and the plugins but I understand the basics and am still working my way through kickstart. I have started using neovim exclusively for development though (forced myself to delete vscode so I can be serious with it) and am still figuring out what plugins and settings work best for me. When I change the configuration of a plugin though and try to reload it -- by sourcing the init file -- lazy complains and tells me I can't resource the init file. I say somewhere in an issue that this just means that I'm reinitializing lazy or something.

I have actually tried the above of reloading but I get some errors with lspconfig and others. One that recently happened was with Mason. I downloaded the ruff-lsp python lsp, updated lspconfig and tried running :Mason but I got this error.
