Feature: Scroll horizontally if vertical scrolling isn't available

What feature or improvement do you think would benefit Files?

I'm not sure if this is the right name of it, the pane to the right oposite to the navigation pane.

In File Explorer it scrolls up/down in the navigation pane but left/right in the pane to the right.

Requirements

• This proposal will accomplish better folder/file management.

Thanks for the reply. That's different.

In File Explorer:

1. If your mouse cursor is over the navigation pane on the left, it scrolls up and down as you'd expect.
2. Actually, it also does if your mouse cursor is over the file pane on the right, it scrolls up and down as you'd expect.
3. BUT do this in a folder with not enough folders/files to need a scroll bar (e.g. 2-3 folders) and it'll scroll left and right so you can see all the columns.

I possibly didn't explain that well, it turns out the right pane scrolls up/down or left/right, depending how many folders and files are in the folder.

It's a quick way to see all the Columns. If you don't wish to Maximise the window or use the actual scroll bar.

I understand why the Column Layout was thrown into the mix as it's Horizontal by nature, but I don't personally use this Layout. It's not really what I mean.

More it's not needed than not available.

If there's not enough Folders/Files in the folder to need a Horizontal Scrollbar. The same as File Explorer does basically.

The scroll wheel behavior is managed by WinUI, and I'm not sure if we can or should take control of this behavior on our end. Do you know if there are any similar proposals on the WinUI GitHub repo?
