We're moving our community to Matrix

Discord recently announced that it will be introducing mandatory age verification for all users. As the EFF has noted, this raises serious privacy concerns, especially given a recent data breach—the last thing we want is for our community members to hand over identity documents to a platform with a troubled security track record.

Many open source projects are reconsidering their use of Discord, and Fedify and Hollo are no exception. We have been running communities on both Discord and Matrix for a while now, and we've decided to make Matrix our primary home going forward.

The maintainers and core contributors have already made the move. Our Matrix rooms are ready and open:

We'll be adding a room for BotKit contributors soon as well.

We're not shutting down the Discord server immediately—it will stay around for a while. But if you want to reach the maintainers or contributors, Matrix is where we'll be most responsive. We'd love to see you there.
