httpx seeems to be not raising http timeout exception

creating a httpx async client to send the request with timeout set to 10s. In case if response is not received within 10s then httpx is not raising any exception and instead session seems to be hanging. I tried to catch the exception and then print it then it is not hanging but not printing any exception either. is there any know issue with same in httpx version 0.23.0?
