Project Migration to UV

PySolr is the only popular client for Apache Solr in Python.

In 2025, we have a super-fast package manager like uv, written in Rust and 20x–40x faster than traditional tools. 🚀

Could we see the PySolr project migrated to uv in the near future?
That would be great - especially for open-source contributions, testing, and overall development workflow!

Let's do uv without hatchling, and then after uv is merged, we can see how hatchling helps in a separate PR.

Actually, uv also has its own build backend.
But at this time I am not recommending it. The build backend is super fast and has good defaults, but it is still in an early stage and some parts are still under development with a few minor issues.

Let's stick with setuptools backend for the first uv PR.

Our tox runs are superslow for tests that only take 17 seconds!! Do we think that uv will help with that?
