This is the change log for DelphiDabbler PasHi and PasHiGUI.
All notable changes to this project are documented in this file.
This change log begins with the first ever pre-release version of what was then known as PasH. Releases are listed in reverse version number order.
This release includes PasHi v2.4.0 and PashHiGUI v1.4.0
- Added a new
-parameter to the-t/--titlecommands to generate the default title for HTML documents. The existing--title-defaultcommand has been deprecated. [Issue #57]. - Added a new
neutralparameter (and alias-) to the-l/--languagecommands to specify that generated HTML documents are language neutral. The existing--language-neutralcommand has been deprecated. [Issue #56]. - Added new
--config-showcommand that displays the commands and parameters set in anyconfigfile. [Issue #84]. - Changed how the verbosity of program output is handled. There are now three different types of output: information, warnings and errors. Each of these types can be switched on or off independently of the others. The
--verbositycommand was heavily modified to take a set type parameter, e.g.{info,error,warn}to specify the required levels. The existingnormal,no-warnandquietparameters were retained, butnormalandno-warnhave been deprecated. A newsilentparameter was added that turns off all output. [Issue #15]. - Fixed bug in the
--trimcommand that was causing the-andspacesoptions to render a different number of blank lines with some files. [Issue #69]. - Updated the program's help screen re all the command line changes in this release.

This release includes PasHi v2.2.1 and PasHiGUI v1.2.1
- Refactored internal handling of version information (see General section below). No visible change to program output.
- Fixed bug where pressing F1 key when a menu is open caused an error message to be displayed. [Issue #32]
- Fixed bug where the About box was displaying the wrong version number for PasHi. [Issue #31]
- Made minor changes to the text displayed in the About box.
- Refactored internal handling of version information (see General section below).
- Changed method used to store and read version information. File version numbers for PashHi and PasHiGUI are now stored in a common
VERSIONfile in the repo root. Information from this file is included in both program's version information resources and in specialRCDATAresources. This enables each program to access the other's version numbers as required.

This release includes PasHi v2.1.0 and PasHiGUI v1.1.0
- Implemented a blacklist of commands that can't be included in the
configfile. The program is halted with an error when such commands are detected. Only thehelpcommand is so blacklisted. - Added new
--viewportcommand that can write a mobile-friendly meta tag to the<head>section of complete (X)HTML documents. - Added new
--edge-compatibilitycommand that can write ahttp-equiv=X-UA-Compatiblemeta tag for Microsoft Edge to the<head>section of complete (X)HTML documents. - Added new facility to emit warning message for deprecated items.

This is a major release. Changes from v1.1.0 include the changes below along with all changes from releases v2.0-beta-1 and v2.0-beta-2.

- Improved Pascal syntax highlighter:
- Now understands Delphi 2010 keywords and directives.
- Support added for some context sensitive directives.
- Reserved words prefixed with '&' now treated as identifiers.
- New input handling:
- Source files may now be in UTF-16 (LE and BE), UTF-8 or default ANSI encoding. Unicode formats are detected using byte order mark.
- Input source can now be read directly from files passed on command line in addition to standard input and clipboard.
- Where more than one input file is specified, files are concatenated before highlighting, separated by user specified number of blank lines.
- Input source code can optionally have leading and trailing blank lines removed.
- Changes to generated XHTML files:
- Output can now be in HTML 4 or HTML 5 in addition to XHTML and HTML fragments.
- HTML file encoding is now user configurable and defaults to UTF-8. Byte order marks and HTML character set attributes are used as necessary.
- User can specify language attribute of HTML output.
- Source code lines can now be numbered.
- Alternate source code lines can now be styled differently.
- Custom style sheets can now be used. They can be either embedded or external.
- CSS class names were changed, but user can specify that old style names are used for compatibility with existing CSS code.
- Document title can be changed.
- "Branding" (comments or meta tags declaring PasHi as generator) can be inhibited.
- Output file name can now be specified on command line as an alternative to using shell redirection.
- HTML mark-up changed, requiring some additional CSS classes to be defined.
- Program now has full Unicode support.
- Support for a
configfile added to allow program defaults to be configured. - Heavily revised command line options:
- Many new commands to control new options.
- Some new commands to reinstate program defaults that may have been overridden by config file.
- All commands now have a long form beginning with double dashes. Some commands also have a short form comprising a single dash and a single letter.
- Commands from earlier program versions retained but made into aliases to relevant new commands.
- Help screen completely re-written.

- Exceptions are no longer raised on checking clipboard when another program has it open.
- Parser no longer crashes when unexpected characters are encountered in source code.

- "Source Code" tab removed from display: input source code is no longer displayed.
- Options to be passed to PasHi can now be set in new "Options Side Bar" displayed at the right of the main window. The side bar can be shown or hidden as required.

- Status bar removed: hints and document type are no longer displayed.
- Styling of HTML code fragments changed.

- Multiple file names can now be passed to PasHi via file open dialog box or by dragging and dropping from Explorer.

From PasHi release 1.1.0 (see above) PasHi and PasHiGUI have been included in the same product. Prior to release 1.1.0 PasH and PasHGUI (as they were then known) were released as separate products. Their releases are noted separately below, in reverse date order.

-hidecssswitch to hide contents of<style>tag in HTML comments. Default is now not to hide contents. - Replaced on-the-fly generation of embedded style sheets for XHTML documents with a default style sheet read from resources.
