Priority reading alternatives

Hi,

If I want to read from two group of topics A and B, such that if there is any data on A, I want to continue to read from only group A until there is no data from A on a poll, then read some messages from B.

Which implementation is more efficient out of:

1. Have two consumers, then batch consume k messages from consumer A, then consume 0 or k messages from consumer B (to avoid max poll timeouts on consumer B)
2. Have a single consumer, and then alternately pause and resume topic groups A and B as per the requirements.
