Debian 13 Template - Testers wanted!

Looking for Debian 13 Testers

We are currently looking for testers for Debian 13 (Trixie) in our LXC scripts.
At this stage, support will most likely only work on Proxmox VE 9 (currently 9.0). Proxmox VE 8.x is not targeted for Debian 13 support.

How to test a script:

Replace .sh with the name from the ScriptName column above or copy the bash call directly.

💡 Template debian-13-standard_13.0-1_amd64.tar.zst is missing or corrupted. Re-downloading.
✖️ Failed after 3 attempts. Please check network access or manually run:
pveam download local debian-13-standard_13.0-1_amd64.tar.zst

you can do following steps: (sometimes the template cannot be downloaded - i think there are currently to many requests)

1. pveam update
2. Re-Execute the script

If it failed again, check that these updates are available & install it:

Did a comparison of the Debian13, Docker Alpine and alpine native install. Here are some numbers:
Debian13 native install: 77.23 MiB of 512.00 MiB (this needs a 7168m for the build, updates from the script, causing a new build)
Docker Alpine install: 65.59 MiB of 1.00 GiB (update by docker compose down && docker pull && docker compose up -d)
Alpine native install: 15.73 MiB of 256.00 MiB (no need to do a build, and update is from the script)

@oerix - I tried upgrading about 5-6 deb12-bookworm to deb13-trixie. I think 3 of them were not successful (for whatever reason), but regardless, I still ended up not using any of the upgrade versions and went with full program (appropriate) backups and restores on clean deb13 installs.

I would think 11 to 13 upgrade would be futile/all for naught.

@oerix oh I just realised now you meant from deb11, hmm yeah I'd suggest doing this in two steps e.g. first to deb12 then deb13.

The steps mentioned are for deb12-13.

For deb11 to deb12 they are similar, but you need to change the sed command to change bullseye to bookworm, something like this:

sed -i 's/bullseye/bookworm/g' /etc/apt/sources.list

You can also skip the modernize-sources command on deb11->deb12.

Then after a successful deb11 to deb12 migration, migrate to deb13 using my linked commands.

Though keep in mind, this is like going from windows 7 straight to windows 11 so I suggest taking proper backups.
