Salut @remi-braun
No it's not, it's a super easy/fast way to create virtual mosaic. Recent version of GDAL have improved a lot the performance when working with VRT of COGs
Yes this is exactly what we did in https://github.com/cogeotiff/rio-tiler-pds/blob/main/rio_tiler_pds/copernicus/aws/dem.py but using VRT might be better now (but it implies a first step of going through all your files to create the VRT) |

Hello 👋,
I have a question: is creating VRT from COGs an heresy?
If so, what can replace the VRT format in a cloud-native environment?
Usecase: I have this tiled DEM converted in individual COGs tiles stored in my university's S3 compatible storage.
How can I access it through rasterio easily to mimic the on disk behaviour of VRTs?
Thanks a lot!
