Position: Volunteer Website SEO Manager (Unpaid)

Role Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable SEO Manager to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for optimizing our website to increase its visibility on search engines, attract more visitors, and ultimately help drive our mission forward. This is an exciting opportunity to use your SEO skills to make a tangible impact on sustainable development in Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

• SEO Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement effective SEO strategies tailored to our organization’s goals and target audience.
  • Conduct comprehensive keyword research to identify opportunities for organic traffic growth.

• On-Page Optimization:

  • Optimize website content, meta tags, headers, and images to ensure they align with SEO best practices.
  • Improve site structure, navigation, and internal linking to enhance user experience and search engine rankings.

• Technical SEO:

  • Monitor and fix technical SEO issues such as site speed, mobile responsiveness, crawl errors, and indexing problems.
  • Implement schema markup, structured data, and other advanced SEO techniques.

• Content Optimization:

  • Collaborate with content creators to develop SEO-friendly content that engages our audience and drives traffic.
  • Ensure all web content is optimized for search engines, including blog posts, landing pages, and multimedia content.

• Link Building:

  • Develop and execute a link-building strategy to increase the authority of our website.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for high-quality backlinks from relevant sources.

• Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Track and analyze website performance using tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and other SEO tools.
  • Provide regular reports on SEO performance, including key metrics, trends, and areas for improvement.

• SEO Best Practices and Trends:

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest SEO trends, algorithm changes, and industry best practices.
  • Continuously test and optimize strategies to improve our search engine rankings.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in SEO management with a strong portfolio of successful projects.
• In-depth knowledge of search engine algorithms, ranking factors, and SEO tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs).
• Strong understanding of on-page and technical SEO best practices.
• Experience with content optimization and link-building strategies.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to make informed decisions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with content creators and web developers.
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with WordPress or other content management systems.
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and basic web development principles.
• Understanding of web accessibility standards and how they relate to SEO.
