Is there an existing issue for this?

  • I have searched the existing issues and found none matching what I'm reporting.

Is the feature related to a problem or existing issue?

No response

Describe the feature, why the feature matters to you, and what benefits the feature will bring about.

Currently, on the Help & Support screen during installation AskUbuntu is mentioned first and then Discourse.

Since the Ubuntu Forums have now been merged with Ubuntu Discourse, I believe it would assist many more users if this had more prominence on the relevant slideshow screen.

I propose changing the order so that Discourse is mentioned before AskUbuntu and also highlighting the fact that UF has been merged with UD.

Describe any alternatives you've considered.

I also propose for consideration moving the Help & Support slide to the start of the slideshow, again with the notion of giving Discourse more prominence for new and existing users as well as bringing support to the attention of users from the outset.

Thanks, that's a good suggestion!

Just to comment on this, Ask Ubuntu isn't even officially sanctioned under the Ubuntu Governance structure, whereas the Ubuntu Forums has always been. Now that the Forums have been moved to Discourse, I believe Ubuntu Discourse needs to be much more prominent, and this is not only a valid suggestion, but needs to happen (and should probably happen for 24.04.2 as well).

If I get any spare time, I might do a PR, but don't hold me to it.

If I may, I would like to propose the following text for the Help & Support slide:

The official Ubuntu documentation is available both online and via the Help icon in the dock.

Ubuntu Discourse, together with the merged Ubuntu Forums, provides guides and discussions for both new and experienced users. Here you will have access to highly knowledgeable developers and volunteers in a friendly, community-driven environment.

Canonical provides commercial support for enterprise users, making it easy to onboard and manage Ubuntu securely in the workplace.

Obviously, this is only a suggestion but I just wanted to try and offer some ideas.
