[PM-41336] Edge mobile browser autofill not working

Steps To Reproduce

Go to any site login page in edge browser, the bitwarden app inline above keyboard shows empty ghost cells, sometimes it shows login credentials but clicking on one don't fill the login page details.

Expected Result

When clicking on login details displayed at the top of keyboard should auto fill the login details of the site

Actual Result

Only shows empty shells sometimes shows the login details but when clicked on it doesnot fill the site with credentials

I tested this on both Microsoft Edge Stable and Edge Beta, and the issue occurs in both versions. To rule out my phone as the cause, I borrowed another phone Vivo and repeated the test. I installed Bitwarden and Microsoft Edge from the Play Store, opened a site in Edge, and observed the same behavior the autofill suggestions appeared as empty shells.
Another thing is that when Bitwarden's autofill method is set to Popup instead of Inline, the login credentials autofill correctly without any issues.

Hmmm. Normally, I don't use Edge on my own Android 15 device, but that is some interesting behaviour and I can reproduce it. (though I only tested it with one site now - the example site @kaniamutan14 used: Proton)

 

When I unlock the Bitwarden app and change focus between email and password fields, at some point the autofill suggestions even showed up for me and they also got filled in eventually.

I think this might be something that should be investigated separately - especially if it occurs on all or almost all sites you navigate to on Edge. (because then it would indeed look like a generalized issue with Edge)

Otherwise, if it were only an issue with specific sites, this should rather be reported via those Google forms:

It still happens to me, simply opening edge browser in mobile and having bitwarden autofill set to inline and going to any site will show empty shells but sometimes the login details appear but touching them wont fill the login details, i am on android 13 with stable edge browser but i have confirmed this with android 15 and edge beta browser, normal other browsers like firefox dont have this issue

This is also happening to me. Autofill is more often than not failing. Using the latest edge mobile browser.

Inline autofill completely stopped working in Edge for me, too (OriginOS 6). I have to press a bunch of fields first before the suggestions even show up, and then pressing any entry does nothing.

I was experiencing this on Pixel Android 17 using Edge and the Swiftkey keyboard. Changing the Bitwarden settings to render as popup rather than inline fixed it for me.

In my case the keyboard would show the Bitwarden login options but clicking on them didn't fill anything in. If it's helpful I'm happy to provide a recording.
