A common critic is that benchopt is only for optimization because of the opt on the name.
Maybe there is room for a rebranding.

Possible names:

• easy bench
• benchy, your benchmarking buddy
• benchbud (bof)

We would also need to make the logo less optim ofc.

One thing worth weighing: how painful is the rename actually? If the PyPI package, CLI command, and import name all change, that's a real migration cost even with aliases.

A lighter-touch option might be to keep the package/import as-is but just rebrand the presentation — README, docs, logo, tagline — to emphasize the general-purpose angle.

It's somewhat complicating matters that we also have the NeurIPS. In the end, I would probably not change the name, but I agree that it would be nice to change all of those other things.
