perf: TPC-H and TPC-DS performance regression after DF 52

We're seeing slower TPC-H and TPC-DS results after upgrading to DF52. I suspect it's related to SMJ and will track that investigation here.

Opened an issue on DataFusion that might be related: apache/datafusion#20728

It looks like apache/datafusion#20729 resolved it in upstream DataFusion. I have backported it to branch-52 (apache/datafusion#20732) and branch-53 (apache/datafusion#20733). We'll pick it up with the 52.3.0 release (apache/datafusion#20681). Leaving this open until then.
