No connect coming up on serial, right port, right setting but can not connect, 
not highlighted, but can in other software

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Start up
2.no connect highlighted
3.

What is the expected output?
to be able to connect

What do you see instead?
connect not grayed out

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
HK_GCS_Lite_Setup_07102011b.exe on windows 7 sp1

Please provide any additional information below.
tried using xbee and ftdi
