GCS connects but doesn't communicate

What steps will reproduce the problem?

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect to see instrument and GPS readings. GUI looks fine, just no data...


What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.3.6

Please provide any additional information below.
I can connect quad either via USB or Xbee links, GCS will recognise connection 
but there is no instrument or GPS readings at all. 
Quad connects to APM and performs with no trouble.
