The Apple Watch has a feature to auto-launch audio apps when the same app begins playback on the iPhone.
The usual behaviour seen in other apps (Music, Podcasts, Books, Overcast, Audible, Spotify) is to open the player screen on the Watch. This allows the Watch to be immediately used as a remote control to adjust volume, etc.
Bookplayer instead defaults to a “Recents” list, requiring an extra interaction to get to the player controls.
This request is to default to the player screen instead of the recents list when playback is started on the paired iPhone.
