Query - managing IDs within DITA? #202

Description

This is in reference to:

"Establish a clearing house for all ID values, so that you can quickly determine if an ID is unique. This might be as simple as a shared spreadsheet or even a text document, but can also be much more complicated, if necessary."

This seems like a flaw in DITA. Isn't it possible to manage all the content & metadata within 1 format?

Would it make sense to "clear" all the content IDs within a dedicated DITA file, which would be included in the main map, with

<mapref processing-role=”resource-only”>

?

It could even be in a DITA table or something, couldn't it?

Then it could be used to generate nice internal docs for the authors to view...?
