Feature request—support Android 8’s adaptive icons

Android 8 has the concept of adaptive icons, which is some crazy way of having app icons be either circles or squares based on OEM.

Currently the {N} CLI doesn’t appear to support this concept, as currently, if you just run tns resources generate icons with a solid-background-color icon, you end up with something like this.

This issue is a feature request for us to generate adaptive icons using tns resources generate icons.

Can anyone please tell if there is any set deadline to support this feature?
Or any other way to circumvent and prevent the white background from appearing. I can see that the icons of some apps like PluginShowcase do not have the white background in the launcher icon. How's it made achievable?

@rg777 the feature request is to provide an automated NativeScript CLI command that will create the adaptive icons for you. Meanwhile, you could create the adaptive icons "manually" - there are many blogs and articles on how to create an adaptive icon
