Here are the percentage differences of the model from the measured demodulation matrices on 20240409:

By the way, the same comparison for 20221026: 637 nm demodulation matrix:

And percentage differences:

I'll do a few more days before the November 2022 changes — make sure to include the percent differences and the actual demodulation matrix for the day. |
Here are the days in Oct 2022 with calibration data:

Above are the demodulation matrices for the calibration data taken during October 2022, along with the percentage difference from the fit. Just looking at the results, it seems that large percentage difference (say > than 8%), mostly correspond to small coefficients (say < 0.07). |

@mgalloy I started looking at this in IDL, but I hit an issue: I dont know how to set colors in IDL with Steves's post-script code. I tried messing with the color tables (loadct) and trying various options for oplot....color=[various numbers between 0-255], but I am only getting black points. Reading the sav files in Python, I get the following plots:

I made plots for 637, 789, and 1079 in this studies notebook. https://github.com/NCAR/ucomp-studies/blob/master/demodulation/Plot%20UCoMP%20demodulation%20vs%20temp%20with%20new%202024%20data.ipynb |
The new polarimetric calibration is not consistent with the old ones for 1074 and 1079. There is nothing we can do to test this further because the observatory is closed. We need to be revisit this when we reopen and test if this calibration was an outlier or if something in the instrument has changed. For the processing of the March-April 2024 we will use the old function based on the data taken throughout the mission until November 2022. |
