To reproduce:

  1. Open any 3d dataset and create a volume renderer
  2. Enable the "Color by another variable" checkbox in the Appearance tab
  3. Edit the data range of the Transfer Function or the Colormap Transfer Function

The changes to the data range will also be applied to the other Transfer Function.
