VScode ESP-IDF stops working

I was using VSCODE all last week without issue and this morning I try to compile a project I was compiling ok and now I get errors regarding compiler path and commands.json not being found.
I used command configure ESP_IDF and ran EXISTING Configuration again, everything gets a tick and message"ESP-IDF" has been configured" but problem remains.
