Lesson 10-4 (simple debounce) does the do-while loop block / eat CPU cycles?

This is a very basic question I realize, but I'm wondering if in this particular queue task we are "undoing" the good we did by moving the while(true) loop looking for button presses to interrupts / a queue? If, for example, somebody pressed the button and held it down for a minute, would this block the remaining application logic from being executed while we were stuck in the do/while loop?
