Where is highlight.js?

If I want to add a new language for syntax highlighting, where would I need to place the file? I can't find highlight.js anywhere on my machine, although I built a few Gitbooks with JS(ON) highlighting. There's no subfolder node_modules in gitbook-plugin-highlight, where I had expected the files of highlight.js...

Same issue here. I cannot get code syntax highlighting working at all in my GitBooks, using mostly bash and php code blocks. I checked the index.js in this repo and it looks like only a few languages are mapped -- the rest get set to "markup". Why such a small selection of programming languages to support highlghting? Can you please share how we would modify the plugin to add support for other languages that highlight.js natively supports?

In my case it wasn't working for the diff syntax. I fixed it by submitting this pull #3

I think the issue might be that gitbook hljs is working, but they never added the correct classes to actually make the highlighting work. I would inspect the page to see if hljs is assigning classes to your code, and then check the less in this repo to see if those classes exist.

gitbook-plugin-highlight are using highlight.js as backend rendering engine. So, anything highlight.js support, this plugin should support. highlight.js supported quite large amount of languages.

So, in most cases, the language you want to add, it might already there. Sometimes the reason there is no such colorful highlight, might because there is a certain style class missing.

Could you show me some example of the code which failed to be highlighted? So, maybe I can help to find out why. 😺

I want to add support for AQL, which certainly isn't supported so far. I can't remember what exactly I did back then, but I wasn't even sure if my language definition for hljs even worked. Maybe it did, but the styles were missing, that is totally possible. I'll give it another shot soon.

@Simran-B You are right, highlight.js does not support AQL yet. The closest thing might be the SQL syntax, maybe you can start from there if you want, and the AQL support for VIM might be useful as well.

Just updated my PR #6 , which updated the style classes to match latest highlight.js 9.8.0. This might fix the problem of missing styles in some cases.
