Hello --

In attempting to follow the instructions for installation of GMT-6.4.0 with the Application Bundle (on MacOS Ventura 13.0), the error message “GMT-6.4.0” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. appears when I double click the GMT-6.4.0.app in Applications.

The pertinent part of the instructions is below.
GMT-6.x.x.app opens a terminal from which you can invoke GMT programs and scripts. If you like, you can add the GMT programs contained in the application bundle to your search path for executables. For that, just run GMT-6.x.x.app once and follow the instructions at the end of the GMT splash screen.

By contrast, when I double click the old GMT-5.4.2.app, Terminal does open and appear ready to run GMT scripts.

I am attempting to upgrade from GMT-5.4.2, which had been working fine until around when I updated to OS Ventura. (Now, my GMT scripts create image files that are unreadable, so I figured I had to update my GMT software, but now I'm encountering more problems...).

Thanks for any help you can offer.

To get past the Apple Nazi Officer, just right click on the GMT logo and select open. I think that opens the menu to open and run at your own risk...
Sorry, despite spending lots of bucks at Apple over the years I apparently have no pull in having them relax this crazy restriction.
