Keep crashing #71
Comments
That log doesn't actually have anything related to crashing in it. Do you have logs from the Crash Logs folder or more information about what's happening? If there's no crash logs, then it could be your Java or a driver crash that's doing it. I'd make sure your java installation is good and your drivers are up to date as that may interfere with loading the pack |
Not sure if this will help however in the log provided it states at line 367 'Loading 302 mods' there is only 287 in the official pack released by Darkosto. I would try removing the extra mods to see if it loads or not first. If it does then add them back one at a time to see if one or more cause the crash. |
I would also double check your launcher settings, you say its Java 8, when the log says Java 17 like it should be, also the log posted has nothing in it about the launch options for RAM assigned to the modpack. |
Which would be the added mods I am not sure where to start? |
So right now I have Java 8 and 17 how would I set a prefered Java? |
It looks like you are using the Curseforge launcher. |
All I will say is that the official pack has only 287 (Screenshot 1 below) in it and your log shows on line 367 that it tried to load 302 (Screenshot 2 below). That is an extra 15 mods. I would suggest since you have not been able to play the pack as yet and now have Java 17 installed - delete the installed one and the folder it is in and reinstall it via Curseforge by searching for the pack in the Browse section under Modpacks. |

Btw, 302 is correct, I get 302 listed in both my log for my Prism instance and Curseforge instance as well and then once the game is loaded it says "304 mods". |
So tonight I will set my instance to 8GB and recheck. Also planning to uninstall and remove any lingering folders that might have been left behind, also planning on uninstalling and reinstalling Java 17 but only have been able to find the Java dev kit version (unless that’s the wrong version) I will install another 1.20.4 pack as a test to see if it’s something I need to fix or something more. I have been able to run 1.18.2 packs just fine to this point. Not sure what drivers I would need to check that darkosto recommended. |
What drivers might conflict? Also I have Java 17 dev kit installed not sure if this is the correct version but was the latest Java 17 I saw. |
@ToastedWookiee - OK then I am not sure how as on the official Curseforge page when I count there is 14 pages of 20 mods and then 1 page of 6 mods for a total of 286. I need to apolgise for saying 287 mods originally I forgot I added one (client side) which I had disabled and forgot to remove. I reloaded the pack to ensure I have the full and correct mods without any extras and it is now a clean install as shown below - At this point I will stop responding as I will defer to you as the more experienced MC and mod person here. @fatpally I would say Darkosto means to make sure every driver is up to date for your motherboard, video card, sound, etc. Please note that in my more then 20 years of Computer hardware, IT Support and IT System Administration career, and ~8 years of playing Minecraft that this is a common resolution however I have also had to revert to older drivers in certain cases due to issues with the newest drivers specifically nVidia drivers. I hope you are able to work out the issue so you can play this awesome pack - peace out follow MC and SF players. |
So I have been trying to run SF5 on an Acer Nitro 17 laptop - which has two forms of gfx including an onboard AMD chip and an RTX 4050. For some reason my MALWAREBYTES was blocking the display mode from changing to the RTX GPU when attempting to run - which caused crashed every time. However, as soon as I closed Malwarebytes and attempted to run the game again, it switched gfx modes properly and the game launched. I wonder what was causing this? |
Check your MC and Malwarebytes logs - likely Malwarebytes is blocking a java executable. I use this app as well and had to unblock Java in the past. |
It would open other java instances though, just for some reason not SF5. When I tried to open it it would say: "Could not change display mode" and I would click it and it would say because of Malwarebytes. I was wondering if maybe my other onboard gfx driver isnt up-to-date. I just don't know why it would work with other instances but not SF5? O.O |
Not sure if you fixed this but I upped my memory and told it to skip launcher with curse forge and it started working. I did both at the same time so I'm not sure what fixed it, but it did redownload some things on launch including java 17 because of the skip launcher so it could've been either. Hope this helps. |
