+For the avoidance of doubt, this Section 4 supplements and does not replace Your obligations under this Public License where the Licensed Rights include other Copyright and Similar Rights.
+Section 5 – Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability.

+Unless otherwise separately undertaken by the Licensor, to the extent possible, the Licensor offers the Licensed Material as-is and as-available, and makes no representations or warranties of any kind concerning the Licensed Material, whether express, implied, statutory, or other. +In this Learning Lab you will learn the basics of consuming a REST API, and how to use POSTMAN to explore a REST API.

+## Prerequisites
+
+In this lab, we are going to use <a href="https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/postman/fhbjgbiflinjbdggehcddcbncdddomop?hl=en" target="_blank">POSTMAN</a> which is a Google Chrome Browser application to make the REST API calls.

+A web service is a way for two systems to communicate through a defined interface.
+There are two major types of Web Services – **REST** or **SOAP**.

+REST is an architecture style for designing networked applications.
+A REST web service is a web service that is as easy to call as making an HTTP request.
+RESTful interfaces often offer the CRUD (Create, Update, Delete) operations.

+### APIC-EM API is a REST API  ###
+
+For this lab, we are going to use the <a href="https://developer.cisco.com/site/apic-em/" target="_blank">APIC-EM APIs</a>.
+
+The Application Policy Infrastructure Control (APIC) Enterprise Module (EM),  Application Programming Interface (API), <a href="https://developer.cisco.com/site/apic-em/" target="_blank">APIC-EM APIs</a>, allows the deployment and execution of application policy across your networking infrastructure.
+
+Using the the APIC-EM APIs, we can retrieve information about devices on our network including a list of hosts, list of network devices, a list of users and more.  We are going to use these features as examples to learn how to make REST calls from Python.
+

+

+REST is centered around the HTTP request and response model.  Consuming an API is just as simple as making an HTTP request.
+
+In this example, we request the list of hosts, and that information is returned to us in the response.  The data returned in the response is usually json or xml.
+
