If have a battery at 100 % and still charge, does it charge and use the battery or directly works with the incoming electricity? #181

On an old phone (Samsung Galaxy J5 (or J3?) or Galaxy Ace 3) it was working if I remember correctly but in the last months I tried on my Fairphone 4 and it does not work.
