Hi Robert, Thanks for the suggestion. Could you please try this build and let me know how it works? If you hold Shift while clicking “OK” in the folder-selection dialog, it will export either the selected query text or the entire tab content. I can add a new setting - "Always Export Query Text" - later. Please use the latest version of SSMS 21 that was released a few days ago. |

It would be great if there were an option to export the query/SQL to Excel as an additional sheet.
I am aware that the 'real source SQL' is not available in the data grid.
What about the following idea? An optional feature to add the content from the current query window as an additional sheet?
I am aware that a user could misuse this feature (run SQL in tab 1, switch to tab 2 and export the data grid with the SQL in tab 2).
However, if the user is aware and uses it correctly, the result is almost exactly what the user wants.
