Per this issue, rollup plugins and dependencies need to be updated.

What steps can I take from this sample to reproduce the issue? I tried cloning a fresh copy of the repo and ran npm install then npm run dev and it seemed to load correctly.

Those were the steps, confirmed by a new employee on our end as well. It might be a library cached globally, locally to you that is helping it work?
