Claude Sonnet official text editor tool

Anthropic released text editor tool for Claude 3.7 Sonnet yesterday.

This sort of overlaps with what Aider does. I was wondering if things could be more optimized if Aider used Claude's text editor as edit method when the selected model is Claude. Their editing methods might use less tokens with more success for their very own models.

Thanks for trying aider and filing this issue.

This is just a new version of a tool that's been around since last year. I've tested previous versions, and they don't work as well at editing files as aider's SEARCH/REPLACE blocks.

It's probably worth testing the latest version.

Oh, I've already tested text_editor_20250124. It's not new, it's from Jan 24.
